JOY! It's a joy-filled day!

No, I'm not celebrating anything in particular. Just counting my many small blessings, that when all totaled, amount to  ONE BIG, FAT, BLESSED LIFE.

I am strong, capable, and healthy. My mind is sound. I can tackle problems and find solutions. I am resilient. I persevere.

I have friends and family who have my back when I need them. And more importantly, my friends and family need me, giving my daily life its purpose.

My car runs. My home gives me shelter. I have clothing that doesn't look like rags. I have an abundance of food. My wallet is not empty. My bills are paid.

The flowers in my garden are blooming. The strawberries are ripening. The birds' song each morning reminds me that it is June.

The days are long. The sun is high. It clears the trees and fills our yard with brightness. The morning light comes in through the kitchen window with our breakfast.

The dishes are done. The kitchen is swept. My day awaits.

I haven't a thing to complain about. The minor inconveniences of life are not worthy of a complaint. Who could complain? I have so many blessings to be thankful for.

    1. Hi Economies,
I try to see the flowers instead of the weeds in life. The more I find myself thankful for things, the more things I find to be thankful for. It's funny how that works. Counting blessings is a great way for me to get out of a funk, too. It lifts my spirits right away.

  2. I notice that you said that you had clothes that weren't rags. Does that meant that you have replaced you holey sweatpants and T-shirts that you have mentioned before? :)

    1. Hi live and learn,
my holey sweats have been set aside to be patched for projects next winter (too warm for sweats now). And yes, I did buy 1 new pair of around the house pants. I hope these are an improvement. I spent about an hour at Value Village, in the dressing room trying on casual pants. I still prefer stretchy waist pants. The pants that looked the best and were still comfortable were $1.99. My 2 worst tees have been relegated to the rag pile. I still have a couple with ragged edges on the sleeves, but those will get the sleeves hemmed to 3/4 length for summer.

    1. Hi Kris,
we seem to go so quickly from tulips to roses here. I can hardly believe the roses are blooming already!

So many blessings to count. Even on my worst days, I have so much to thank Him for.

  6. Thanks Lili,

I've been in a terrible mood all day, so I admit I skipped over reading this post several times with a bit of a "harumph" attitude. Why is that? When I'm really grumpy, tired, afraid, angry, upset, worried, etc... it's like I don't want to hear about positive stuff... it all feels like the world is "rubbing it in my face" and telling me that I should just "suck it up" and pretend to feel better.

But, my day improved to the point where I felt like I could handle reading something positive... I'm such an idiot. I should have clicked on it the first time because I really did need a reminder that I lead a blessed life, which I do. Maybe some part of me just wants an excuse to wallow now and then.

Anyhow, thanks for the little jolt of joy. I really needed it today (even if I didn't think I could handle it.)

    1. Cat, your mood is totally understandable. You've been worried sick all day (weekend), and "visiting" a time in your future that will be terribly painful. But we'll be hoping that time is far, far away yet (and from what your vet says, that sounds likely!) The world around us does seem to just go on, while we're in the midst of turmoil. But I'm sorry if my post or anything else in your day made you feel that you should just "get over it".

More than any other time, I think I really get that right now. Someone in my family is going through something painful right now (which means that as a family we're all going through this painful episode). And outsiders tend to forget that for us, everything is going in slow-motion. To outsiders, this is almost old news.

May today be better than yesterday!

    2. Thanks Lili, and your post in NO WAY made me feel like I should "get over it." I just meant that happy things in general make me feel that way when I'm down. But really, the only place that's coming from is from inside of me. I think that's just another one of my projections.

Anyhow, thanks for your support and I'm so sorry that your family is dealing with hard stuff right now. I just have to keep reminding myself that death is a part of life, and this too shall pass.

      Thanks again,
      Cat
