A Leap Month of Little Joys and Satisfactions: Cinnamon-Raisin Bread

I was making a 4-loaf batch of whole wheat bread dough anyway. So, I decided to make one of the loaves a cinnamon-raisin loaf to go with dinner last night. Easy to do and pleased everyone. Cinnamon-raisin bread always brings back very fond memories of my childhood.

  1. What a good idea! If you have leftovers I would be dreaming of french toast!

I have had my old bread machine for nearly 28 years but I don't use it very often. I told my husband I should bring that out one of these days and make a small loaf. Maybe tonight.

  3. Thanks for sharing!! I showed this to my husband, the bread maker. We often yearn fancy breads on bakery shelves, but never thought of turning our regular bread dough to cinnamon raisin!! Recently, my husband added blueberries and bananas to cornbread. So we're getting there lol

  5. I think the smell of cinnamon raisin bread baking is one of the best scents in the world .... and if you make it into toast (or French toast like Alice mentioned) then you get to experience it twice!

  6. Hi Alice,
Oh what a great idea -- French toast with the cinnamon-raisin bread. If there is any leftover tomorrow, I'll do just that! Thank you!

  7. Hi Live and Learn,
I think it pleased everyone last night. It was a nice change for a bread to go with our soup. I made your peanut butter-pumpkin soup last night. So good!

  8. Hi YHF,
That blueberry and banana cornbread sounds delicious! Yum! Another good add-in to regular bread dough is pesto. I make a French bread type of loaf, roll it flat, as if making cinnamon bread, and spread the pesto on the dough, then roll up. I got that idea from a local bakery stand at the farmer's market a few years ago. It's quite good for when you have leftover pesto.
I hope you've been having a beautiful day, there!

  9. Hi Kris,
Oh, I know what you mean about toasted cinnamon bread. That is really yummy. I totally forgot to do that with this loaf, though. Thank you for that reminder!

  10. Hi Marybeth. I totally agree! Fresh out of the oven is my favorite, especially the ends as they have the buttery flavor and crispiness from baking in the pans.
    Have a great day, Marybeth!
