In some years, I've even bought zucchini to make them. Even with buying zucchinis, making a jar is still cheaper than buying a jar of pickles. Hope you enjoy them!Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-51830046568005905422012-09-07T01:23:46.487-07:002012-09-07T01:23:46.487-07:00I don't have a huge harvest of zucchinis, but ...I don't have a huge harvest of zucchinis, but I love them so much I might have to try this recipe anyway :) It sounds yum and I have been trying to get into pickling more this year. I usually plant a mix of zucchini, yellow crookneck and patty pan squash. The yellow crookneck has shown no signs of fruiting this year. But we've had quite a lot of the patty pan and now the zucchini.

Glad you stopped by!Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-37738637446277344482012-09-06T17:30:02.612-07:002012-09-06T17:30:02.612-07:00Hi Shara,

Here in the maritime northwest, we welcome any heat we can get! Oh well, different regions have different climates.

Thanks for dropping in!Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-10723194388444185462012-09-06T12:15:19.862-07:002012-09-06T12:15:19.862-07:00Lili,

I am not especially a fan of zuke, finding it to be bland, and preferring yellow crookneck squash. We love zuke relish, however, and can't tell that the relishes aren't made with cukes!CTMOMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04825780992878036362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-88304007056194544212012-09-06T11:18:57.480-07:002012-09-06T11:18:57.480-07:00Yum! Hubby and I are debating if we will plant a garden and if so -- the eternal question -- how large of one?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-38857193437185636282012-09-06T08:06:58.697-07:002012-09-06T08:06:58.697-07:00Hi Belinda,

But if you don't have a recipe for zucchini bread and butter pickles, copy this one and keep it in your files to try out next year. They are quite good.

And as zucchini is so abundant in the garden and fairly cheap in stores in summer, this makes a very frugal and easy bread and butter. I am salivating over the thought of opening one of my jars.

My favorite way to eat bread and butters is just as the name implies -- bread, butter (and it's got to be the real thing for this) and some pickles.

Thanks for commenting!Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-8039217159415435942012-09-06T08:03:26.569-07:002012-09-06T08:03:26.569-07:00Hi live and learn,

What are your plans for that lone zucchini? Make it great so you can savor the memory! It's a long time till next summer.

Thanks for reading!Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-890269789685048122012-09-06T06:11:51.655-07:002012-09-06T06:11:51.655-07:00Our zucchinis are about gone now too. I first got the idea for this from the fast food restaurant, Hardees. They used to put them on their new hamburgers, but then they quit doing that and switched back to dill. I guess dill is cheaper than bread and butter. Anyway, since then I started putting them on our homemade hamburgers and the family really enjoys them too. :) Belindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17486895127003368291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-13043699589903266862012-09-06T04:18:28.700-07:002012-09-06T04:18:28.700-07:00Believe it or not, our zucchini are almost gone an...Believe it or not, our zucchini are almost gone and I miss them already.
