It probably is best eaten on fresh, hot white rice. According to my husband, natto is best prepared with a dash of soyu, a sprinkle of salt and chopped green onions. It sells relatively cheap here, frozen, for less than $2 per 7 ounce (packaged in 4 individual serving containers). I have to limit carbs in my diet, so I eat it on my bean patty (one of the ingredients in our patties is rice). I know it sounds a bit gross but taste wise it isn't too bad. I don't think I can love it the way my husband does, eating spoonfuls on hot rice. The bean patty taste seems to be a distraction for me, while not conflicting.

YHF
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-87058172279888615492016-10-20T07:50:08.634-07:002016-10-20T07:50:08.634-07:00Hi YHF,

I'm thinking one of them might carry natto. If it really isn't too bad, I might give it a try. It sounds like it's an excellent source of K2.

I'm glad to share what I find out, YHF. Talk about filtering what is not critical, I chose to not eat natto for 62 years (yes I'm that ripe old age!!), not even trying a bean, when I grew up with my father, then husband and daughter loving that stuff. However, since your discussion about how important getting premade K2 (vs vegetarian K1), I tried my first natto and it wasn't as bad as it looked and smelled. Thanks so much for sharing with us what you have researched. Your blog has by far been the most informative and helpful out there, ever, improving our lives for the better!!

Have a wonderful day!!

YHF Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-74499439522329242382016-10-19T06:39:43.181-07:002016-10-19T06:39:43.181-07:00Hi YHF,

I think that's just how human minds work. There are so many details of daily life to remember, that we tend to filter out that which isn't critical.

For me, doing all of this reading on the various supplements has made me see that even the vitamins can be critical to feeling my best, and that is motivating me, right now.

Have a great day, YHF!
Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-32670561385391604452016-10-19T06:35:38.233-07:002016-10-19T06:35:38.233-07:00Hi frugal spinster,

I tried doing things like setting the pills on top of each bottle for the day, but that got to be a lot of work, and I would forget which ones couldn't be taken together, etc. A pill minder was just the simplest and very cost-effective solution.

Have a great day, frugal spinster!
Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-68357220194399967022016-10-19T06:32:59.761-07:002016-10-19T06:32:59.761-07:00Hi live and learn,

Or, if it's vitamin D, you could ask your doctor if it would be appropriate to take 1 larger dose, once per week. I know in therapeutic treatment for vitamin D deficiency, the initial doses to get up to optimum level, are sometimes given as a weekly dose.

Right now, for me, I am highly motivated to not miss any doses. We'll see how I do in a couple of months.

Have a great day, live and learn!Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-67898579021228495042016-10-18T21:34:43.413-07:002016-10-18T21:34:43.413-07:00I use a pill box reminder too. The morning meds are not Rx, so it is not critical, which may be why I'm forgetting. I may need to move the pill box to the middle of the kitchen counter after taking the evening meds (instead of tucked in the back) so I can see it first thing in the morning. I'll do it tonight. Thanks for this topic.

Have a wonderful evening!!

YHFAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-76926710810666075352016-10-18T21:27:16.805-07:002016-10-18T21:27:16.805-07:00Without the help of a pill minder I often forget i...Without the help of a pill minder I often forget if I've taken my daily pill. I've gotten morning and evening meds down, but it's the middle of the day that I forget even if it's in plain sight. As you mentioned, it's better to take certain things not at the same time or with or without food. It's this juggling that I can't seem to get myself in a routine with. In the meantime, my vitamins are suffering.Live and Learnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13493777474885053903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-62694114520734187132016-10-18T07:17:31.178-07:002016-10-18T07:17:31.178-07:00Hi Alice,

You've had a lot to deal with in the past year, too, with your hubby's surgery, and a daughter going away for a while. Those are very stressful events, and can be taxing in their own right. But getting everything checked is good.

That's what I've done with everyone else's pill minders, put them at their place at the table, so they get taken with dinner. The table seems to be a good "reminding spot".

Have a great day, Alice, and I'll keep you in my prayers.Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13292553654219380455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4055690688282230469.post-56861046851793963912016-10-18T05:55:03.727-07:002016-10-18T05:55:03.727-07:00I have used these in the past also when the kids w...I have used these in the past also when the kids were very young. I had five of them--one for each of us in the family--used for daily vitamins and a vitamin C. They were placed by their dinner places and each was responsible for taking their own each day. It was safe in that the cats couldn't open them and eat pills. I don't use them right now but I have decided to begin taking daily vitamin pill but now it is just easier to leave the pill bottle right on the table as a reminder.

I am hoping a daily vitamin is all I need to "perk up" since I'm not feeling energetic lately. I just drag and I'm tired.

AliceAlicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12660543650879805736noreply@blogger.com
