Dollar store autumn decorating

I mentally need something to get me geared up for fall. A good place to start is a quick trip to Dollar Tree for a few pieces of autumn decor. I bought 20 items (spent $20 plus tax). That amount helped me spruce up the kitchen entry, front entry and living room, with very little effort.

Here's what I bought:

I thought these candles had appeal that goes beyond autumn decor.

The faux green apples looked the most realistic of all of the faux
fruit at DT. I bought 7 for $7. Amazon sells a set of 6 for $13.99

I have a glass door at the entrance to the kitchen.
Window clings are the way to go, there.

Faux flowers and an autumnal pick for pots in the front.
I'll show you pics of what I did with all of this, soon. I hope you had a lovely weekend!

  1. How fun! We can't do window clings because our crazy cat likes to eat rubbery items. Found out about the window clings the hard way. Ha.

I have a few autumnal items that I dig out year after year to scatter around the house--a wreath, pumpkins, etc. I don't put a lot of effort into it but I do think it's festive. I purchase mums for my front porch every year--I can usually get them for a good price and they cheer me up.

I think both the apples and the candles can be used beyond autumn. Have fun decorating!

    1. Hi Kris,
Ooh, too bad the cat eats window clings!
I agree on the apples and candles. My thought is the apples will stay out most of the year.

  2. Great finds! I love the candles and the green apples! We have been having some autumnal weather here. I've been thinking of getting my autumn decorations out of the closet.

Can't wait to see your decorating pic! Have a great day!

  3. I guess it's time to think about fall, isn't it? I'm still trying to catch on all the things I didn't get done this summer. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your decorating. That's something you really have an eye for.

    1. Hi live and learn,
It changed from hot and sunny, to cool but sunny, here, practically overnight. So much I didn't get done this summer. But none of it truly matters.
      Thanks! have a great evening!

  4. Pretty finds. We are having our first cool days, earlier than typical for us. I have been trying to decide what to do for fall decor, but thanks to you I am going to check out Dollar Tree before I commit to anything.

    1. Hi Shara,
Dollar Tree surprises me in the home decor stuff, sometimes. I scour everything they have, not just in the seasonal section, but also the regular decor and craft section and find a few goodies. Wishing you luck when you hit your Dollar Tree!

  5. I tried to decorate in the past but hubby calls it clutter and tends to want to put it all away.

    1. Hi Alice,
to each his own. Everyone has their own tolerance for non-essential items.
There are other ways to mentally get yourself into a season, anyways, like meals, outings, drives to see the colors of leaves changing, and reading special books. I hope you find your own ways to make the seasons meaningful to you.
