A Beautiful Autumn Day at the Pumpkin Farm

What a difference three weeks makes! The above photo was taken today, Saturday the 26th of October. The photo below was taken a year ago on Saturday the 5th of October. Just look at the colors of the trees in the backgrounds in both photos.

This is the same farm, looking toward the same hillside. This year, the colors of the trees were simply glorious. Pastoral views stretched for miles along the winding drive out to farm.

Despite making this outing so late in the pumpkin season, there were still quite of few of the orange globes waiting for their adoptive families to deliver them to their new homes.

While we new it would be a bit chilly, we really did not prepare for the wind.

We did, however, prepare for the mud, or a least three of the four of us prepared for muddy footpaths.

One last view of the pumpkin field before getting back into the warm car.

Ahhh, hot beverages all around to warm ourselves after a beautiful autumn outing to the pumpkin farm.

  2. Hi, my son is working on a masters at U.of Wash. He said that he will have his head in books this
weekend. Hope he gets outside to see the colors!

  3. We get to see the colors right outside our home as we watch the trees change color and then drop their leaves. I also get to see the pretty trees change color from my office window! We also took a quick drive over to Lake Michigan and the 25 minute drive was gorgeous on our highway route there. The leaves are working very hard at falling from the trees and soon we'll be knee deep in raking them up. That is not my favorite part of fall but it does have to be done. I could be doing that already but there is still more leaves on the trees than on the ground. I think I'll just drink some coffee and watch from my window!!

  4. Oh, what a fun day! Autumn days and activities are among my favorite. I'm glad the weather cooperated for you and that you had a good time with your daughters. I'm trying to nurture time with my kids now that they are teens in the hopes that we will have good relationships as adults. I spent much of Saturday with my daughter. I find that when it's just the two of us, she shares her thoughts more deeply. Looking at your relationship with your girls gives me hope that I'm on the right path!

Our tree colors are pretty this year, but we've had a LOT of windy and rainy weather and therefore not much time to enjoy it. I think I'll head out for a hike for my afternoon workout, since the weather girl said today is the "pick of the week", weather-wise.

    Hi Live and Learn,
What a treat that you get to see all of the fall colors on your drive to work each day! I know we really enjoyed our drive on Saturday.

    Hi Bonnie,
I hope your son has been able to get outdoors and see the leaves and color, too. We've had a couple of days of clear weather, here, so everything is just perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Good for your son for working on his Masters!

    Hi Alice,
How wonderful to just be able to sit and watch the beautiful leaves from your office! And your drive to Lake Michigan sounds like it was full of beautiful sights! I'm so happy for you!

    Hi Kris,
I think you are doing a wonderful job with both of your kids. Just making yourself available when they do want to talk makes the difference. I'm glad you had the day on Saturday to spend with just your daughter.

Oh great! I hope you enjoy your hike today.
