Here are the two Adirondack chairs that my husband and I put together yesterday afternoon and this morning. Whoever thought this was a 30 minute assembly (recommendation online) didn't have the type of dyslexia that I have, where I can't easily read maps or diagrams. Even with using some of my tried and true tips, I still had some confusion with parts and which end or side went where. My mind flips things around, but only in maps and diagrams.
I also wanted to show you a close-up of the door mat. I like to use repeating designs or patterns to tie elements together. When I saw this door mat, I knew it was the one we wanted. My illustrator daughter also caught the design element.
The mat is a series of tessellating diamonds.
Our front door also has a diamond pattern, seen in the glass panes. I just liked how these two elements went together.
Anyway, I am loving our new morning and evening space.
More updates to follow . . .
I love the door mat and agree with you and your artist daughter about repeating pattern. It accentuates the beautiful diamond pattern of the door. Color will make it so picturesque and inviting. Good job!!
ReplyDeleteI've been having trouble with diagrams and instructions lately. Either I'll misread a word or forget the steps and have to reread. Sometimes even simple math in my head is taking longer.
Have a nice evening,
Laura
Thank you, Laura.
DeleteI find I have to reread a lot of things too. As far as math goes, calculators on our phones have (at least for me) kept me from getting the math practice I used to get all the time. I now use my phone for speed. I need to start forcing myself to do the calculations in my mind again.
I think that turned out beautifully!

Thank you, Alice!
DeleteYour entry way has beautiful curb appeal. Where did you get your chairs and doormat?
ReplyDeleteHi Ruthie,
DeleteThank you! The chairs were from Amazon and the doormat was from Home Depot (in-store, but I also saw it on their website).
We're happy to have logs as side tables in the backyard by the fire ring. But for the front entry we wanted to splurge a bit more. The chairs are HDPE and feel very sturdy. Plus, they are foldable, which will help with storage in the off season.
I love the new look, and the repeating design! Great redo!
