Finished My Wire-Wrapped Sea Glass Bracelet

When my kids were school age, one of our favorite summer excursion venues was our local beaches. The kids would comb the shore along with me, hunting for the perfect seashell or jewel-like piece of sea glass. I accumulated quite a collection of sea glass over the years.

There aren't many opportunities for my kids to beach comb with me these days. Their lives keep them busy. But I have my seashore collections to bring back those fond memories.

You might remember that a couple of years ago I posted about some of the wire-wrapped jewelry I was making. I also began a sea glass bracelet, using wire-wrapping to both make the frame for the bracelet as well as secure the pieces of sea glass. I put it away unfinished and pretty much forgot about it.

One day this summer I came upon the project in a drawer and set it on my dresser to get to this summer. In clearing up the dresser earlier today, I decided to just finish the bracelet. I didn't have much left to do, just fashion some sort of wire-wrapping clasp.

The silver-plated wire bracelet holds five pieces of sea glass, 1 large pale blue piece, 2 white pieces, and 2 lime green pieces.

I'm pleased with how it turned out for my first such piece of jewelry. And I'll always treasure the memories it represents from my children's younger days.

  1. That's beautiful, Lili! And how extra special that it comes from sea glass collected by you and your children.

    1. Thank you, Cat. I do really like that the sea glass was collected on our many excursions to the beach when my kids were young.

  2. That's so pretty, Lili, and even more so with the memories that come with it. I've done a bit of wire jewelry in the past, and I'm impressed with the amount of detail you put into the bracelet.

What a lovely bracelet! SO pretty. Like Live and Learn, I've done some wire wrapping with seaglass pendants, but nothing so intricate as your bracelet! I've still got my tools and lots of seaglass (hardly any to find here these days). I think I may need to try my hand at this again. Lovely jewelry with lovely memories. :)

    1. Thank you, Lynn. Your wire-wrapped sea glass pendants sound lovely. I have lots of sea glass, too. Some I keep in a bowl on a table, other pieces are in my wire projects box. I should find more projects to use some of it. Good luck finding projects for yours!

  4. So pretty! I don't think I have the patience to make anything so intricate.

    1. Thank you, Kris. I think this bracelet was like many projects for me. When I came upon a stumbling block or it became too much for me, I put it away for a little while, then picked it back up. In the end, I have great satisfaction in "mastering" the project, stumbling blocks and all.

  5. Beautiful!! I've never tried wire wrapping (always thought it seemed difficult) although I loved making bracelets with cord and beads. Sorry I've not commented for a very long while. I get fixated on problems (not anything too overwhelming) and time just goes.

    Have a wonderful day,
    Laura

    1. Hi Laura,
I'm so glad you commented today. You pop up in my mind periodically and I'm glad to know you're still here. I get fixated on problems, too. It can be really difficult to make myself move on from a problem or not give that problem so much of my attention.

Anyway, glad to hear from you whenever it works for you. And thank you for the kind compliment on the bracelet.
